Friendly Addiction - Culture Is Not Tradition — It Means Showing Up

Don’t talk culture to me when you don’t have the emotional quotient that goes with it. When people speak about culture, they often point to traditions, religion, heritage, or social identity. But to me, culture is something far deeper than rituals or backgrounds. Culture is the act of showing up. It is the willingness to be present when no one else is there — when trauma is difficult to process, when loss creates an endless vacuum, when grief has the capacity to swallow the life out of someone. Culture reveals itself in the moments when life is at its most fragile. After death. After accidents. At funerals. During interventions. During rehabilitation. After emotional breakdowns. After panic attacks. After meltdowns. In such moments, human beings do not need lectures or explanations. They need presence. Souls need connection to face the unknown. Yet often people confuse culture with very different things. They measure culture by professional achievements, by the titles they hold ...

What We Live For ?

I am worried

Don't be

You don't see

What I do

I see it

But tend to ignore

Why do you do that?

Because I don't want to know

That we are walking towards hollow

We are following shadows

We are marking empty spaces

We are tracking invisible footmarks

What are you talking about?

Again I don't want to know

So even though I know, I don't

Doesn't it bother you?

It does, but I choose the other one without bother

While one calms down

I become the clown

While one is out of town

I wear the crown and sit on a throne

Made of plastic stone

These riddles are making me sick

That was the plan and now it did the trick

So which one should I pick ?

You know you think too much

There is nothing called choice as such

A mother doesn't pick her kids

A farmer doesn't pick the land

An animal doesn't pick it's dwelling

An orphan doesn't get to pick it's parents

There is a simple equation

You do the things that bring emotions

You do the things that let go frustrations

You do the things that you are meant to do

Being as simple as sitting and saying nothing

Watching a game that your team is loosing

Rooting for a kid that's rising and falling

The sun does that too

The moon follows along

There is nothing right and wrong

Even criminals love to sing a song

Jails have humans that haven't been able to process anger

Whales eat animals that they don't even know suffices their hunger

What's your point ?

I don't know, and I don't want to know

If you are going for that play

Let me dress up

If you make your mind not to

Let me dress down and sit on the couch

And drink a bit

Wink a bit

And doze off ...

It's been a long conversation

Let's practice silent communication

Let's practice spontaneous artwork

Let's practice speaking our hearts out

Let's practice treating everyone equal

Let's practice going out on streets and greeting everyone

You need to stop..

Okay I will

But I know you got the message

Well, all I know that this is a passage

Where we travel to go beyond

What we live for in it's entirety

Is not to lose ourselves in this tornado

Of reality...
